To help support teachers and put a face and a story behind the lessons in our Curriculum Matrix and the resources we provide, MAITC has created a podcast called "What's Growing on in Minnesota?". This monthly podcast is specifically targeted for teachers or agriculture enthusiasts that want to learn more about agricultural topics and how to utilize our resources to teach others about agriculture.

Did you know that evergreen trees can be found on every continent except Antarctica? Some varieties can even live up to 200 years old! These very special trees are used for all sorts of very cool things - including the Christmas Tree that many of us put in our houses during the month of December. This month, we sat down with a Christmas tree farmer to learn more about all that goes into raising the perfect Christmas tree! Will Almendinger, from Rum River Tree Farm in Oak Grove Minnesota, has been Christmas tree farming for many years. In 2017, Will grew the winning Christmas Tree at the Minnesota State Fair.
What was the meat that was served at the first Thanksgiving meal? Venison! Even though we think of turkey when we think of Thanksgiving now, venison was the meat served at the first Thanksgiving. Minnesota is the state that raises the most turkeys in the United States. This month, we're chatting with Ashley Klaphake. She's a turkey farmer from Melrose, Minnesota and she and her husband John have been raising turkeys for quite some time. Listen in to learn more about how to raise turkeys!
